Decorative Ribbon with Fringe

Description

The decorative ribbon is handmade from multicolored yarn using weaving and twisting techniques. Its main section consists of a tightly twisted cord with a contrasting black-and-red diagonal pattern, complemented by white, red and green yarn. The ends and individual junctions are decorated with voluminous multicolored tassels made of red, yellow, green and dark red woolen threads. Small light-colored beads embellish the tips of the tassels. The ribbon was intended to be suspended between the uyk, the dome poles of a traditional Kazakh yurt, and used as an element of interior decoration. It was made in Kazakhstan in 2000 by craftswoman R. Balzhigitova. The object represents a contemporary continuation of traditional Kazakh decorative arts.
