Description

The tekemet is a traditional Kazakh felt carpet, handmade from natural wool using the traditional felting technique. Its light-colored felt ground is decorated with large geometric and vegetal motifs arranged in symmetrical diamond-shaped sections. The color scheme combines contrasting red, green, and burgundy tones. The ornamentation includes spiral, diamond-shaped, and horn-like motifs characteristic of traditional Kazakh decorative art. The object represents the continuity of traditional felt-making practices and the development of national ornamental culture in the mid-20th century. The carpet is preserved in good condition, with its original felt structure and ornamental composition retained.
