An industrial seascape synthesizing the traditions of Soviet Impressionism with elements of the “Severe Style.” The canvas is executed in large, divided, and impasto brushstrokes, while the sky and background are rendered in a delicate, almost pointillistic mosaic technique. Occupying the foreground, set against yellow sand and blue water, are the massive silhouettes of boats and launches resting on props-some resting upside down to create a distinct rhythmic pattern; towards the right edge rises the lattice silhouette of a harbor crane. The palette is built on a subtle balance of warm, golden-yellow sand, contrasting rich blue-azure and brick-red tones on the hulls of the vessels. Forms are defined by concise graphic outlines, conferring a monumental weight and poster-like clarity upon the composition.
