A still life with apples. At the centre of the composition is a clay bowl filled with red apples; another lies beside it on the table. The background and tabletop are treated conventionally and flatly, with the introduction of a decorative ornamental motif - red curls - to which the subject motif itself is also subordinated. The composition is balanced and frontal, with a marked tendency toward decorativeness. The work is executed in a painterly, post-impressionist manner: form is built not by line but by colour and textured brushstroke, the contours soft and blurred, the modelling generalized and without detail.
