Description
Author: Luy-Ko, Vyacheslav. 1963
A genre composition executed in a decorative manner. The foreground features market stalls with human figures, balanced on the right by a kiosk shaped like a yurt and on the left by a circle of people enclosing two dogs, while at the centre rises a house mounted on a boat-wagon, pulled with ropes by a group of people, oxen, and motor vehicles. The composition centers on a multi-figure panoramic narrative unfolding across the entire canvas, unified by the central motif of the moving house. The painting style is decorative, characterized by generalized, flat forms and a detailed, ornamentally rendered treatment of numerous small figures. The palette is built on a deep emerald-green range, enlivened by the warm ochre and reddish accents of the structures and garments. The work is imbued with a sense of festive crowd-filled movement and a narrative, folklore-fantasy imagery. At the lower right - signature.
