Description

This 19th-century men’s belt belongs to the traditional male costume complex of Western Kazakhstan. It consists of a wide, durable black leather band fitted with substantial silver plaques, cast elements, and fastening components. The main clasp is decorated with large dark-green stone inserts. The leather band and silver fittings feature traditional ornamental motifs, including vegetal and zoomorphic forms. The metal components were produced using stamping, forging, and casting techniques. The clasp section is attached through two connecting rings. Its considerable dimensions, weight of 860 g, high silver fineness, and elaborate decoration indicate the importance of the belt as a formal element of traditional men’s attire. The object is well preserved.
