Women’s Ring with an Oval Mount

Description
A substantial women’s ring dating to the 19th century, made of 925 sterling silver and distinguished by a large three-dimensional oval mount. A brown glass insert, imitating natural carnelian, is securely set in the center of the mount. Its surface is decorated with a complex ornament executed using the granulation technique and arranged in a composition resembling an amulet motif. The edges of the plate are supplemented with ornamental decoration and granulated elements forming protective decorative motifs. The side surfaces of the ring feature a dense geometric pattern. Welding, granulation, and forming techniques were used in its manufacture. The ring has historical, ethnographic, and artistic significance as an example of traditional Kazakh jewelry of the 19th century.
