Basqur

Description

Basqur. A traditional decorative woven band used in the interior of a Kazakh yurt. It is designed to cover and secure the joints between the roof poles (uyiq) and the lattice wall (kerege), while also serving as an ornamental element. Woven from multicolored threads and decorated with traditional Kazakh patterns. In addition to its decorative role, the basqur helped strengthen the yurt structure.
