Description
Charcoal Iron from the Early 20th Century is a household appliance with a hollow cast-iron body into which heated charcoal was placed as a source of heat for ironing. The round openings on the sides of the body provided airflow and helped maintain the smoldering of the charcoal. The iron is equipped with a hinged lid secured by a latch at the front and a wooden handle that protected the hands from burns. The exhibit reflects the characteristics of domestic life and the development of household implements in the early 20th century and has historical-domestic and cultural value.
