Description

Author: Fedyanin, Stepan. 1927
A landscape capturing a undulating terrain set against an expansive mountain range. The space of the hills is structured by broad swathes of plowed land that follow the contours of the relief, creating a sweeping rhythmic pattern. In the distance, alternating bluish-purple mountain ranges gradually lighten, merging into a grayish-white overcast sky. The palette rests on a contrast of rich pinkish-burgundy and ochre earth tones with the cool blue and azure palette of the far distance. The generalized treatment of space and large color planes lend the landscape a monumental character. At the lower left - signature.
