A genre composition depicts a lesson in a classroom. At the center, seated with her back to the viewer, is a teacher; to her left stands a table stacked with books, and on the right stands a boy wearing a Pioneer tie, reading from a notebook. In the second plan, students in school uniforms with red ties are seated at desks. The figures are arranged in tiers and turned frontally, while the space is treated conventionally, lacking spatial depth. The forms are generalized, with contours sharply outlined. The palette relies on the saturated red-orange tones of the background, contrasted against the blue and white shades of the students’ clothing.
