A historical-revolutionary composition depicting D.A. Furmanov among the militia in the city of Verny unfolds on a city street: in the center, beside a saddled horse, stands Furmanov addressing the gathered crowd, while a dense group of listeners in chapans and malakhai hats is arranged on the right. Adobe structures line the sides of the street, with mountains visible in the depth. The composition is built on the contrast between the brightly lit center featuring the speaker and the dark mass of the crowd. Executed in a realist manner, the forms are generalized. The palette relies on warm ochre-brown tones accented with vivid red highlights. At the lower right – signature and date.
