Description

Author: Nogaybayev, Chingiz. 1965
A decorative genre composition depicting a young man and a young woman seated on a bench in the foreground: he is seen from behind in a checked shirt and hat, holding a guitar, with his head turned in profile; she, in a striped blouse and blue skirt, is turned towards him. A dark-brown cat sits by the bench on the left. The background features dense building façades with rows of windows, rendered as a conventional flat pattern. The forms are generalized and deformed, the proportions of the figures deliberately elongated, and the space lacks depth, lending the scene a grotesque yet lyrical character. The color scheme combines the warm tones of the background with bright accents of the clothing. At the lower right - the artist’s monogram.
