Portrait of R. Koshkarbaev, Participant in the Assault on the Reichstag

Description

Author: Nakisbekov, Anarbek. 1951
A genre-like portrait set against a rural landscape depicts, in the foreground, a man in a grey suit with an order on his chest, seated on a bench in three-quarter view to the left, beside a girl in a sleeveless vest holding a rooster in her arms. Village buildings, human figures, and trees are visible in the background. The forms are generalized, the space is treated conventionally, and the planes are juxtaposed without deep perspective. The light ochre-grey palette is accented by the vivid red notes of the tie, the order, and the rooster’s plumage.
