Portrait of K. Telzhanov

Description

Author: Leontiyev, Leonid. 1913-1983
A bust-length portrait of a man set against an abstract painting in a tense red-and-yellow palette. Turned energetically three-quarters to the right, his face is rendered in sharp profile with his gaze fixed on the canvas at the right, capturing a moment of creative concentration; dark hair is swept back. Dressed in a white shirt and blue trousers, he holds paintbrushes clutched in his left hand. Executed in oil with a free, expressive technique, the figure is sculpted through broad, dynamic brushwork, with the face and shirt densely worked, while the background breaks into swift dark strokes echoing the sitter’s movement.
