On the Almatinka River

Description

Author: Yevdaкov, Alexander. 1913-1943
An Impressionistic mountain landscape: the foreground depicts a hazy shore sloping down toward the water and trees behind a low fence. Beyond the bend of the river stretches a sunlit plain with scattered rocks and a dense growth of trees and shrubs. The lighting contrast between the foreground and middle ground, the complex texture of the sky, and the study-like character of the execution vividly convey the fleeting state of nature.
