Medal “For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945”

Description

The medal is circular in shape and made of brass. The obverse features a left-facing profile bust of I. V. Stalin wearing the uniform of a Marshal of the Soviet Union. Raised inscriptions run around the circumference: “НАШЕ ДЕЛО ПРАВОЕ” (“Our Cause is Just”) in the upper part and “МЫ ПОБЕДИЛИ” (“We Have Won”) in the lower part.
The reverse bears the inscription “ЗА ПОБЕДУ НАД ГЕРМАНИЕЙ” (“For the Victory over Germany”) around the circumference. In the centre is the inscription “В ВЕЛИКОЙ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННОЙ ВОЙНЕ 1941-1945 ГГ.” (“In the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945”), with a five-pointed star depicted at the bottom. All images and inscriptions are in relief.
The medal is attached by means of a suspension loop and ring to a pentagonal mount covered with a 24 mm wide silk moiré ribbon. The ribbon consists of five alternating longitudinal stripes - three black and two orange - with narrow orange stripes along the edges.
