Description
This wooden saddle forms the foundation of the traditional Kazakh harness. Carved from hard wood, it is regarded as the most essential part of the horse tack. Both the front (pommel) and rear (cantle) sections are raised, providing the rider with a stable and secure seating position during riding. On each side, metal fittings are attached for stirrups. The saddle is crafted from birch wood and covered externally with brown leather, adorned with small nails and metal plates. It was donated to the museum by Igenbek Kurbanov, a resident of Kugershin village, T. Ryskulov District. The saddle stands as an ethnographic artifact reflecting the nomadic culture, traditions, and craftsmanship of the Kazakh people.
