Korzhyn (Bag)

Description

Qorzhyn is a traditional Kazakh textile item woven from yarn. It has a rectangular shape with two side compartments. The bag is decorated in blue and red tones with geometric and traditional Kazakh ornaments. The central section is embellished with black decorative bands featuring ornamental patterns. Decorative tassels are attached to all four corners, while looped cords are placed along the opening for closing and securing the qorzhyn.
The qorzhyn is used for carrying belongings, food, and everyday necessities. Traditionally, it was carried by placing it over both sides of a horse’s saddle or worn over the shoulder. The looped cords at the opening serve to fasten and close the qorzhyn, preventing the items inside from falling out.
