Description

Earring - a traditional women’s silver ornament intended to be worn on the ear. The museum object is made of silver of 500 fineness using forging and forming techniques. The main section is rounded and has a projecting element at the bottom. The upper part of the inner opening contains a recess shaped like the taban motif. The front surface bears embossed decorative ornamentation.
Earrings of this form were used as women’s decorative jewellery. The combination of the rounded main body and the ornamentally shaped inner opening defines the artistic character of the object. The use of forging, forming, and embossing reflects traditional 20th-century methods of shaping and decorating silver jewellery.
