Description

Spinning wheel (Russian). A tool for spinning threads. It was used to turn wool or flax fibers into yarn. This type of spinning wheel is called a treadle wheel, operated with a foot pedal. By pressing the pedal, the wheel was set in motion, allowing continuous spinning of yarn without breaking.
Main parts: a rotating wooden wheel, vertical wooden supports, a foot pedal, and a spindle for winding the spun yarn. Kazakh women learned to use this tool and began to employ it widely in everyday life.
