Mortar and pestle for kumiss

Description

A mortar and pestle for kumys. A traditional wooden container used for processing and storing dairy products. It has a round, tall, and hollow shape. A kubi consists of sixteen wooden planks, held together on the outside by four circular hoops. A pispek is a wooden tool for churning butter. Two thin, 15-cm-long wooden crosspieces are firmly attached to its working surface, forming a tetrahedral shape. The surface shows signs of long-term use: cracks and abrasions. The long handle of the pispek protrudes through a specially drilled hole in the lid. The bottom of the pispek is round and flat, corresponding to the inner diameter of the kubi.
