Description

This kitchen utensil is one of the traditional household items of the Kazakh people. The item, known as balaulysh, was mainly used for stirring dairy products - such as ayran (fermented yogurt drink), katyk (thick yogurt), kurt solution, kumys (fermented mare’s milk), and also for churning sour cream and butter. The balaulysh is lightweight and elongated, with a handle that fits comfortably in the hand. Its end is slightly flattened. Made from wood, the balaulysh is an eco-friendly tool that was widely used in everyday life.
