Description
This is a silver 50 ‑ kopeck coin from 1922.
Obverse: Features the coat of arms of the RSFSR, with the inscription “Proletarians of all countries, unite!” around the rim.
Reverse: In the center is a five-pointed star containing the number “50”; below is the year of minting, “1922”; above is the denomination “50 kopecks.”
Edge inscription: “Chistogo serebra 2 zolotnika 10.5 doli (P.L.),” meaning “2 zolotniks and 10.5 dolyas of pure silver.” The initials “P.L.” refer to Pyotr Latyshev, mint master of the Petrograd Mint.
The coin was used as a button; a loop has been soldered to the obverse.
