Bracelet

Description

Bracelet - a traditional women’s silver ornament intended to be worn on the wrist. The museum object is made from a strip of white metal using forging and bending techniques. It has the form of an open-ended hoop. The strip is 0.8 cm wide, and both ends are forged thicker than the main body. The outer surface bears embossed ornamentation, with individual elements highlighted in blue enamel. The enamel coating is only partially preserved.
Open-ended bracelets of this type were worn by Kazakh women as everyday and decorative jewellery. The thickened ends strengthened the object and emphasized its ornamental form. The combined use of forging, bending, embossing, and enamelling reflects the artistic and technological practices of 20th-century jewellers.
The museum object is an ethnographic source illustrating women’s adornment practices, the tradition of decorating silver bracelets with enamel, and the artistic and technical characteristics of 20th-century jewellery.
