Description

Bird-beak-shaped ring - a traditional metal ornament intended to be worn on a finger. The decorative bezel is shaped to resemble a bird’s beak. It is hollow, raised, and has a convex surface. The decorative section is attached to the circular shank by soldering. The surface of the shank is undecorated.
Rings of this form were used as traditional decorative ornaments. The raised bird-beak-shaped bezel defines the artistic and formal character of the object. The combined use of casting, forging, bending, and soldering reflects 20th-century techniques of shaping and assembling metal jewellery.
