Non-pile carpet

Description

Southern Kazakhstan. A central field of rectangular shape with a red background. It is ornamented with black “өрмекші” patterns and diamonds in gray, white, yellow, and black colors. Between the “өрмекші” patterns lies a “керегекөз”. A wide border is adorned with diamonds. Framed with stripes featuring the “тіс” pattern. The composition of the patterns forms a mesh ornament. At the edge of the carpet is a brown border. On both sides in width, there is a fringe made of primary twisted brown wool threads. Dating: early 20th century.
