Balkhash. A Clear Day

Description

Author: Dyachkin, Andrey. 1930
A cityscape depicting a panorama of an industrial town with a bay, the silhouette of a harbour crane on the left, and dense development of varying heights on the opposite shore. The composition is built on the contrast between the horizontal expanse of the water and the vertical rhythm of buildings and chimneys. The palette is rich and warm - ochre-red and terracotta tones of the structures contrast with the cool blues of the water and sky. The decorative brushwork features directional strokes that create a dense, mosaic-like surface texture.
