Belt pad

Description

Belt plate. This piece is a massive, rectangular shield-shaped plate made of golden bronze alloy with a patina-covered, shaped edge at the bottom. The front of the plate bears a two-line inscription in Arabic in Kufic script. The inscription reads, “from Allah, the degree.” The inner surface is rough and has two pins or rivets.
