Shiy mat

Description

A traditional component of the Kazakh yurt interior. Made from reed-like shiy stems, it was used to cover the outer side of the lattice wall (kerege), protecting the yurt from wind, dust, and sunlight. It was also widely used as a partition, floor covering, and for various household purposes. The surface is decorated with multicolored threads and traditional ornamental patterns.
