Breastplate (horse tack)

Description

Breastplate – one of the traditional elements of Kazakh horse tack. It is a piece of equipment worn across the horse’s chest that prevents the saddle from sliding backward. The breastplate was especially used to keep the saddle stable when riding in mountainous, uneven terrain or during fast riding. The surface of the breastplate is decorated with silver-colored metal overlays, and the metal decorative elements are attached to the leather base with nails.
