Kyzylorda Regional Museum of Local Lore

The Kyzylorda Regional Museum of History and Local Lore is one of the leading cultural and educational institutions dedicated to preserving, studying, and promoting the region's rich historical and cultural heritage. The museum was established in 1939 by a special resolution of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic. Initially, the museum was housed in the Church of Christ the Savior, a historic building constructed between 1890 and 1896. Today, the museum occupies an area of 3,366 square meters and holds a collection of approximately 68,013 items. The museum's exhibits comprehensively reflect the natural, archaeological, ethnographic, and historical stages of the region's development.

The museum features the following thematic halls:

1. Nature and Paleontology Hall - showcases the natural landscapes, flora and fauna of the Kyzylorda Region, as well as paleontological findings such as the remains of mammoths, hipparions, and rhinoceroses.

2. Archaeology and Architectural Monuments Hall - presents materials related to the ancient and medieval archaeological sites of the Syr Darya region, including Shirik-Rabat, Zhankent, Balandy, Babish-Mola, and others, along with information on architectural monuments such as mausoleums, mosques, and domed structures.

3. History of the Kazakh Khanate and National Liberation Movements Hall - covers the period from the 15th century to the early 20th century, highlighting the national liberation movement led by Kenesary Kassymuly, uprisings in the Syr Darya region, and the movement of Amangeldy Imanov.

4. Alash and Soviet-Era Intellectuals Hall - tells the story of the leaders of the Alash movement in the early 20th century and local intellectuals of the Soviet period, detailing their lives and socio-political contributions.

5. Valor and Glory Hall - dedicated to the heroism of Kyzylorda residents during the Great Patriotic War and on the home front, as well as the history of postwar veterans.

6. Socio-Economic Development of Kyzylorda Region Hall - reflects the evolution of the region's economy from the Soviet industrialization period to the present day, covering agriculture, industry, construction, transportation, and energy sectors.

7. Culture and Art Hall - exhibits traditional crafts, musical heritage, theater and visual arts of the region, including works by local artisans.

8. Space Exploration Hall - presents the history of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the first space launches, achievements of Kazakh cosmonauts, and modern space research.

9. Independent Kazakhstan Hall - focuses on the political, social, cultural, and economic reforms since 1991, the historical role of the First President, and the current development of the region.

The museum is equipped with modern digital and multimedia technologies. The new exhibition structure is developed using elements of artificial intelligence and presented through 3D modeling. LED screens, video panels, and animated displays are installed throughout the halls, enhancing the visual and educational experience for visitors. Interactive touch panels, available in Kazakh, Russian, and English, allow visitors to explore archaeological, historical, and ethnographic content independently. These panels provide biographies of historical figures, maps, diagrams, chronological tables, and other visual materials. In addition, holographic projections are used throughout the museum space - this technology recreates three-dimensional images of historical figures, objects, or events, giving the illusion that they are floating in the air.

The Kyzylorda Regional Museum of History and Local Lore serves as an important spiritual and cultural center that connects the past and present of the region. Its thematic content and technological implementation align with modern trends in museum practice, offering visitors a high-quality and informative experience.
