Aksu Historical and Local History Museum

The Aksu Museum of History and Local Lore is a structural subdivision of the Communal State-Owned Enterprise "Pavlodar Regional Museum of History and Local Lore named after G. Potanin," which is subordinate to the Department of Culture, Archives, and Documentation of Pavlodar Region. The institution is engaged in preserving, studying, and promoting the historical and cultural heritage of the city of Aksu.

The museum was opened on October 18, 2000. Its exhibition and display hall covers a total area of 156.4 square meters. Currently, the museum operates one exhibition hall, which presents extensive materials in chronological and thematic order, covering the history of the city from its foundation to the present day.

As of 2024, the museum’s collection includes 3,955 items, of which 2,652 are part of the main collection and 1,303 belong to the auxiliary collection. The museum houses rare objects of historical and cultural value, such as rubber footwear from the 1950s-60s, fox fur coats from the early 20th century, a 1950s television set, and several issues of the magazine Ogonyok dating back to 1915.

The museum’s educational activities aim to foster patriotism and historical awareness. To this end, it organizes various lectures, workshops, thematic lessons, guided tours, and cultural evenings to provide an in-depth introduction to the local history. These events are held in close cooperation with local educational institutions and ethnocultural associations.
