Kyzylkoginsky Historical and Local Lore Museum

The Kyzylkoga Museum of History and Local Lore was opened in 1989 and dedicated to serving the public good. In 1992, by decree of the district akim, the museum was officially granted the status of a district historical and local lore museum.

The main mission of the museum is the collection and systematization of valuable exhibits related to the history, ethnography, and archaeology of the Kyzylkoga region; the academic study of the region’s history and ensuring broad access to this knowledge; the preservation and protection of historical heritage to strengthen the nation’s spiritual memory and cultural integrity; and the patriotic education of the younger generation, nurturing love for the homeland, and fostering historical awareness among the local population.

The museum's exhibitions are divided into the following thematic sections:

1. Hall of Nature - This hall features taxidermy specimens of animals and birds native to the district, including: wolf, fox, saiga antelope, badger, wild boar, and ferret; and among birds - swan, duck, seagull, grey crow, black crow, and titmouse.

2. Ethnographic Hall - The exhibits in this hall offer extensive information about the traditions, customs, and culture of the local population. On display are household items made by artisans from wood, leather, wool, iron, silver, brass, and other materials used in everyday life.

3. Hall of Regional History - This section displays ancient beads and ceramic fragments from the Sarmatian and Sarayshyk periods, a dagger, part of a sacrificial stone, as well as artifacts related to the everyday life and national traditions of the Kazakh people. Also featured is a Japanese rifle from the early 20th century.

4. Hall of Culture and Literature - This exhibition includes photographs, historical documents, and personal belongings of notable figures such as public figure Khalel Dosmukhamedov, academicians Zeynolla Kabdolov and Salyk Zimanov, writers Gabiden Slanov, Baktygerey Amanshin, Zhaukashky Keykin, screenwriter Sabit Sanbayev, composer Murat Koishybayev, Hero of the Soviet Union Musa Baimukhanov, and full Cavalier of the Order of Glory Sharip Yerkinov. Also on display are the armor and sword of the batyr Aibass, who lived in the 19th century.
