Memorial Museum of the Zhubanov Brothers
The first museum in the city of Embi was officially opened on February 15, 1983, by a decision of the Executive Committee of the Mughalzhar District Council of People's Deputies of the Kazakh SSR, as the Memorial Museum of Akhmet Zhubanov. The museum was established to commemorate the life and work of the prominent Kazakh musicologist, composer, and public figure Akhmet Kuanovich Zhubanov.
In 2006, to mark the 100th anniversary of Academician Akhmet Zhubanov, the construction of a new museum building began - a one-story structure with an attic, designed in accordance with modern architectural standards. The new facility was put into operation in April 2009. The architectural design incorporates elements of the national style and is equipped with modern exhibition halls that are accessible and comfortable for visitors.
Today, the Zhubanov Brothers Memorial Museum functions as a cultural and educational institution, fulfilling an important mission of preserving, researching, and promoting the scientific and creative heritage of two outstanding figures of the Kazakh people - musicologist and composer Akhmet Zhubanov, and Turkologist, philologist, educator, and professor Kudaibergen Zhubanov. In addition, the museum presents information about the contributions of other members of the Zhubanov family to the development of Kazakh culture and science.
The museum’s scholarly exhibition is aimed at showcasing the significant contributions of the Zhubanov family to the development of Kazakh music and linguistics. It features a wide array of materials including Akhmet Zhubanov’s musical manuscripts, rare archival documents, photographs, personal belongings, as well as scientific works, textbooks, and manuscripts by Kudaibergen Zhubanov. Moreover, the museum has become an integral part of the region's cultural life. It regularly hosts academic conferences, exhibitions, creative meetings, lectures, and workshops in contemporary formats. The museum staff actively implement research, educational, and outreach programs that foster a respectful attitude toward national heritage among young people.
