Description

The Aitys Scene from Act I of Mukhan Tulebayev’s Opera “Birzhan - Sara” represents the musical material of one of the opera’s key episodes, based on the Kazakh tradition of aitys - a poetic and musical contest between akyns. The material was used in rehearsal and performance practice, as well as in the preparation of the opera production. The exhibit is associated with the creative legacy of the outstanding Kazakh composer Mukhan Tulebayev and reflects the distinctive features of national opera and musical culture in Kazakhstan.
