A Street in San Paolo

Description
Author: Nurmukhammedov, Nagimbek. 1924-1986
An urban landscape features a street in the center that ascends steeply into the distance, lined on both sides with one-, two-, and three-story tiled-roof houses and cars parked along the sidewalks. Overhead power lines stretch across wooden poles over the roadway, framed above by a cloudy sky and the distant silhouettes of buildings. The composition relies on a rigorous street perspective that draws the eye toward the horizon. The forms are generalized and resolved through large planes, executed in a restrained painterly manner. The palette is built on closely related gray-blue and lilac tones, enlivened by the reddish accents of the roofs.
