Author: Nurgozhin, Meirzhan. 1971
A genre-historical composition depicting Kasym Khan’s visit to a forge. The scene unfolds beneath a wooden canopy: in the right foreground, a blacksmith sits at the anvil holding a hammer, flanked by a quenching vessel and metal blanks; to the left, spread across the ground, are a saddle, a chest, and pieces of defensive armor - a chain mail shirt, a helmet, and a shield. Deeper within the space, blacksmiths work beside a blazing hearth, while further left a warrior examines a curved saber alongside a smith holding a helmet. The composition rests on a balanced distribution of figures around the forge hearth, which serves as both the thematic and optical focal point. Executed in a realistic manner, the work features meticulous rendering of the weaponry and horse tack, set within a warm palette dominated by brownish-ochre tones. At the lower left - signature.
