Description
Author: Kasteyev, Abylkhan. 1904-1973
A battle scene themed around historical revolution, depicting a cavalry charge of Amangeldy Imanov’s sarbaz warriors across the steppe. Across a broad steppe landscape, horsemen armed with sabers and rifles gallop swiftly from right to left; slightly right of center, mounted on a white horse, rides Amangeldy himself, accompanied by a standard-bearer with an unfurled red flag, which forms the semantic and color focus of the scene. In the lower right stands a cannon, while fallen warriors lie on the ground in the foreground, and in the distance, a group of yurts is visible, one of them engulfed in flames. The color palette is built on the combination of warm ochre-yellow tones of the steppe with the dark accents of the figures, flashes of fire, and the resonant focal point of the red banner. The elongated horizontal format, the rapid dynamic movement, and the meticulous, detailed painting style align the work with the tradition of Soviet historical painting, glorifying the national liberation struggle. At the lower left - signature and date.
