Shelter

Description

Author: Zulfukarov, Dolkun (Arken). 1956
A symbolic landscape composition rendered in a muted palette. In the upper portion of the canvas, against an overcast sky, a large celestial disc appears as a diffused, light spot. Below, at the center of the composition, the outline of a circular structure is visible. To the right, a human figure is rendered in silhouette. The surrounding space is filled with dense, dark masses of greenery painted in broad, impasto brushstrokes. The artwork is characterized by generalized forms and a tense atmosphere typical of themes of shelter and solitude. At the lower right – signature.
