Description
Author: Yesirkeyev, Kuanysh. 1947
A symbolic composition depicting a barefoot elderly man seated with one leg tucked beneath him. Holding a kobyz in his hands, his gaze is directed into the distance. Behind him, a recumbent white horse with an outstretched neck and head thrown back is set against the kerege and shanyrak of a yurt, from which radiating flames form a halo-like nimbus above the figure’s head. The composition is organized around the central figure. While the forms are rendered in a generalized manner, the central figure is distinguished by meticulous plastic modeling that emphasizes the subject’s physique. The color palette is built on the contrast between warm and cool tones.
