A multi-figure symbolic and allegorical composition. At the center, rendered in close-up, is a harnessed arba, beside which men and a woman are depicted in a generalized manner. Framed within the covered arba, the silhouette of a girl in a saukele is faintly visible. The palette is contrasting, built on the opposition between the fiery red upper section and the dark, earthy tones of the figures and the cart in the foreground. The paint application is expressive and textured, with rich impasto; the forms are rendered in a generalized, dramatic manner - the image is resolved as an allegory of the journey and fate.
