At a Distant Winter Pasture

Description

Author: Dzhunusov, Marat. 1947-1999
A landscape depicting a winter herding camp (zimovka) in the foothills during the winter-transitional season. At the center of the composition is a small house with a gabled roof, next to which stands a utility structure. In the foreground are the silhouette of a person and the figure of an animal by a fence. The sky is muted, with soft cloud transitions. The coloring is built on the contrast between the dark structures and earth and the cold white snow masses of the mountains. The manner of execution features broad, generalized brushstrokes with an expressive treatment of form. Bottom left - signature.
