Steppe

Description

Author: Yesirkeyev, Kuanysh. 1947
A horizontal, tiered landscape composition. In the foreground, set against a backdrop of yellowed steppe grass, a yurt, a dugout, and an enclosed livestock corral appear on the right, while grazing horses are depicted on the left. A band of dark hills in the background divides the composition into equal parts. Rows of elongated horizontal clouds cast shadows over the lower tiers, expanding the pictorial space; alternating and overlapping one another, they deepen the composition.
