An abstract composition is built around a large arcuate form in saturated red in the upper section of the canvas, beneath which light, rounded masses-white and grey-are set against deep, dark, almost black planes. On the right, the silhouette of a seated female figure facing right can be discerned. The palette is built on the contrast between the dominant red patch and the surrounding dark-blue and black range, punctuated by occasional light accents. The dense, impasto paint application and generalized treatment of forms create a tense, dramatically charged image. Top right – monogram.
