A multi-figure genre scene of a school classroom, sustained in a restrained, warm tonality. The compositional center is the figure of a teacher standing by the desks; before her, at their desks, are schoolchildren in uniform. The coloration is built on restrained brownish-ochre and grey tones, among which the red patches of the Pioneer neckties and the blue silhouette of the teacher stand out. The painting is executed in the impasto technique with dense brushwork. The narrative quality of the subject and the coloristic structure align the work with the tradition of the Soviet thematic painting.
