A genre composition in which, at a laid table, sits an elderly woman lost in thought, wearing a white kimeshek and a dark chapan over her dress. On the table are a samovar, a teapot and sweets. The manner of execution is soft, painterly and watercolour-like, generalised, with blurred, flowing tones. The restrained colouring and intimate composition create a sense of calm, domestic comfort and contemplative quiet. Lower right - signature.
