Bust-length portrait of a young woman in traditional costume: a tall ornamented headdress, large openwork drop earrings, and a green garment with gold embroidery and a white collar. The face is rendered softly and in generalized form, whereas the background and costume are executed in small, shimmering brushstrokes in a cool blue-green palette accented with gold and lilac. The composition is flat and decorative; the painterly manner is textured and impressionistic-mosaic, creating an effect of shimmer.
