Description

Western Kazakhstan, Atyrau Region. Date: 20th century.
The dombra crafted by the folk master Uakhap Nareshev. Made of wood, with a pear-shaped body. Equipped with two strings made of nylon fishing line and a plastic bridge. It has 13 frets. On the top, there is a resonant hole framed with a star-shaped pattern. The surface of the top is covered with varnish. On the headstock, a star is depicted along with the inscription “USSR.” On the side of the body, inscriptions are engraved: “Lenin’s 100 Years,” “1870-1970,” and “50 Years of the Kazakh SSR.”
