«50 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR» Medal

Description

The medal is circular in shape, bordered with a relief edge. All inscriptions and images on the medal are raised. The medal is attached to a pentagonal base by a hook and ring. The base is covered with silk moire ribbon, which is blue with a white stripe running along its center, flanked by red and white stripes. The front side of the medal features a five-pointed star coated in red enamel. In the center of the star is a sculptural depiction of two Red Army soldiers - one in a cap and the other in a helmet - in profile. Around the edge of the circle are written “1918” and “1968” to commemorate the event. Surrounding the star is a decorative pattern consisting of branches of laurel and oak leaves. The reverse side of the medal features a five-pointed star at the top, with an image of a hammer and sickle in the center. Below the star is the inscription “ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ ЛЕТ ВООРУЖЕННЫХ СИЛ СССР”. The back of the base has a pin fastening.
